Staying at Muzdalifah is one of a series of hajj pilgrimages carried out after the pilgrims perform wukuf in Padang Arafah. Mabit is usually done to rest and pick up pebbles that will later be used by the congregation for the procession of throwing jumrah.
Please note, overnight, which means staying overnight or resting, is done twice, namely overnight in Muzdalifah and overnight in Mina.
Then what exactly is overnight? How is the procession, how is it carried out and the prayer? Check out the following explanation, truFriends!
Definition and Procedures for Overnight in Muzdalifah and Mina
Mabit comes from the Arabic word "mabith" which means overnight. While the word al-mabit means a place to stay or stay at night, to spend the night. Staying at Muzdalifah is done on the night of the 10th of Zulhijjah, after making wukuf in Arafat.
Muzdalifah is an area located between Mina and Arafat, and has a distance of about 9 kilometers from Arafat. In addition to spending the night there, the pilgrims will also collect pebbles that are used when throwing the jumrah later.
After spending the night there, the pilgrims will continue their journey to Mina to carry out the stoning of the Jamrah. By staying overnight, the pilgrims can learn how to be tawakal and patient with all the difficulties while performing the pilgrimage.
Prayer for Muzdalifah
Allahumma inna haazdihi muzdalifatu jumi'ay fiihaa alsinatuan mukhtalifatun tas'aluka hawaaija mutanawwi'atan faj'alnii mimman da'aaka fastajabta lahu wa tawakkal'alaika fakafaitahu yaa arhamarraahimiin
Meaning: "O Allah, surely in this Muzdalifah there have gathered people with various languages who ask You for various needs, so include me in the group of those who ask You, then You fulfill the request, who surrender to You, then You protect, O Lord of all Compassion."
In addition to the above prayer, we are also encouraged to multiply prayers while doing mabit as explained in QS al-Baqarah; 198.
Allahumma inni as'aluka an tarzuqanii fii hadzaal makaani jawaami'al khaira kullahu wa an tushliha sha'nii kullahu wa antashrifa 'anniisy syarri kullahu fainnahu laa yaf'alu dzaalika ghairuka walaa yajuudu bihi illa anta
Meaning: "O Allah, I ask You to grant me sustenance in this place in the form of all forms of good. So that You may improve my condition entirely and remove from me all forms of evil because no one is able to do it except You and no one can give it except You."
Tips for Overnight in Muzdalifah
In addition to preparing physically because the weather is very different from Indonesia, truFriends must also be in good health and have extra patience because later they will be in the middle of a dense crowd of worshipers. So make sure to bring all the necessary equipment for your stay.
Don't forget to bring hygiene kits such as soap, mineral water to clean yourself, or wet wipes. To avoid dehydration due to the hot weather during the day and very cold at night, make sure to consume enough food and drinks.
